It’s a patriotic celebration…..Effingham style!The Freedom Rings Parade & Music Festival returns to Rincon this Saturday and organizers say it’s bigger and better than ever before. The festivities kick off with a community-wide parade at 10 a.m. featuring floats, The Marine Corps marching bands, and 3rd ID Color Guard, Shriners, veterans’ groups, and local businesses, all coming together to celebrate freedom and unity. The Grand Marshall is Effingham County’s own Hometown Hero, Sgt. Matthew Watters. The parade begins at Rincon Elementary School on Fort Howard Road.The Music Festival at Freedom Park will be full of vendors, food trucks and inflatables for the kids. Lawn chairs, blankets, and patriotic spirit are welcome at the family-friendly event. No coolers allowed and alcohol will be available to purchase.The music starts at 3 p.m. with a powerhouse lineup of musical talent including Brian Gerrald, High Velocity and Lauren Mascitti. Mascitti, a Nashville-based singer-songwriter, was a contender on “American Idol” in 2020 and is known for her rich, soulful country voice and heartfelt songwriting.The evening concludes with a spectacular fireworks show, lighting up the sky in a dazzling display of red, white, and blue.
