This weekend, Gjirokastra transformed into the capital of Albanian rock for a special night. The stone Odeon stage in the city’s museum area welcomed well-known artists and rock music enthusiasts, continuing the tradition of this music event.
The festival stage featured singers and bands who share the same passion: the vibrant sounds of rock and direct connection with the audience.
“Today we’re organizing the 5th edition of the Gjirokastra Rocks Festival. The tradition continues with the most renowned and prominent artists of this musical genre. What we’re trying to do is enrich the cultural life of the city of Gjirokastra, which at the moment is at the peak of its tourism season,” said Albert Haloçi, the organizer.
“For the first time at this festival, the excitement is real — first times are always emotional, but it’s a beautiful feeling. Luckily, rock festivals are still being held, and personally, I can’t wait to get on stage and perform,” said singer Frank Brahimi.
“I’m back in Gjirokastra for the umpteenth time because it always leaves me with a great impression. This time, we’re here for Gjirokastra Rocks, and I can’t wait to get started,” added another singer, Sardi Strugaj.
This festival is part of the summer tourism season calendar of events that make Gjirokastra a welcoming destination throughout the season.
