Country music singer Pat Green asks for prayers after his family suffered ‘heartbreaking’ loss in Texas floods

The country music world is praying for singer Pat Green after he shared an emotional message Monday on social media.

“Over the weekend, during the devastating flooding that hit Central Texas, my family — like so many others — suffered a heartbreaking and deeply personal loss,” he wrote. “We are grieving alongside countless Texans who lives have been upended by this tragedy. Right now, we kindly ask for privacy and space as we mourn, support each other, and begin to process what comes next for our family.

“Thank you for your love, prayers, and compassion.”

Green also shared the statement to his Facebook, but did not provide further details. Also, CNN said that a representative for Green “did not have further information to provide,” when reached about the post.

“I am so sorry for your family loss,” Melinda Martin responded to Green on Facebook. “Texans are grieving over this very awful tragedy. So many wonderful people and previous children had to suffer. It’s heartbreaking and devastating. Prayers for your family and for all of Texas.”

“Praying for your Faith to carry you through these hard times,” Kathy Dollarhide Ives wrote. “May God wrap his arms around you and give you peace and comfort.”

“Sending prayers for peace and comfort during this difficult time,” Brett Hopkins wrote. “May the love and support of family and friends bring strength in the days ahead.”

Prior to that post, on July 4 Green announced on social media that he was calling off a show due to the weather.

“Hi Folks, Due to the unforeseen weather and tragedy around the Texas Hill Country, it has been decided to postpone tomorrow night’s show w/ @corymorrowband and @dawnandhawkes to a later date,” he wrote.

He closed that post by writing, “Our prayers go out to all the folks affected by the floods in the Texas Hill Country.”

The 53-year-old Green is a native of San Antonio, Texas. He has recorded seven studio albums, and 15 of his singles have hit the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts. His most successful song was “Wave on Wave” which hit No. 3 on the charts.
