SWEET HOME, Ore. – The Oregon Jamboree, a staple in Sweet Home’s cultural calendar, is set to host its final music festival in 2025, according to event promoters.
The Sweet Home Economic Development Group (SHEDG) Board of Directors confirmed that the 34th annual event, scheduled for August 1-3, will mark the end of an era for this beloved music festival.
“While this is not an announcement the board wanted to have to make, as one of the last remaining nonprofit country music festivals in the country, we are deeply proud of the positive contributions we have made to our community and the memories we have helped create for festival attendees over the years,” said Heather Search, president of the SHEDG Board of Directors.
The Oregon Jamboree was founded in 1992 to boost Sweet Home’s economy after significant layoffs and mill closures. Over the years, it has generated millions in economic activity for the local area, staying true to its mission of supporting rural economic development.
“Even with widespread community support and volunteers, the economic realities of running a music festival no longer serve our mission to support rural economic development in the Willamette Valley,” said Search. She added that while the decision to make 2025 the final year was difficult, the board looks forward to celebrating the festival’s storied history.
Rob Poirier, Vice President of SHEDG, expressed gratitude to those who have supported the festival.
“To our incredible volunteers, sponsors, community partners, artists, and staff, thank you for your dedication to this event and to our community for so many years,” said Poirier. “You are the ones who made the Oregon Jamboree special for three and a half decades, and you are the ones who will keep its memory alive for years to come.”
