Jodie Stocker Kennedy is joining Spotter as chief revenue officer, where she will lead the creator-focused company’s ad business.
Kennedy will report directly to Spotter president and co-founder Nic Paul. She takes over the role after Spotter’s former CRO, Lauren Benedict, exited the company in March of this year to join Roku as VP of global ad sales and partnerships.
“Jodie is the right leader to accelerate our mission on building lasting relationships between the world’s most-watched long-form creators with the brands hungry for cultural relevance,” Paul said in a statement. “Her track record of building high-performing revenue teams and crafting breakthrough partnerships will supercharge our ability to package tentpole video drops and creator-led TV-show-style programming for advertisers.”
Spotter’s YouTube creator partners include MrBeast (Jimmy Donaldson), Dude Perfect, Kinigra Deon and Ryan Trahan. Spotter claims it has paid more than $940 million to creators to date through its licensing program. In 2024, U.S. adults watched 77 billion minutes of video from Spotter creators, according to the company.
Most recently, Kennedy worked at Walmart Connect, the company’s retail media advertising division, where she was a senior director overseeing entertainment, gaming, tech, telco, toys and seasonal merchandise verticals. Prior to Walmart, she was VP of sales and partnerships at Sphere Entertainment, which operates the Sphere venue in Las Vegas.
From 2014-22, Kennedy worked in sales at Snap, the parent company of Snapchat, where she was the first hire in its New York City office. She headed ad sales for the consumer packaged goods vertical before becoming head of travel, auto and financial services ad sales. Prior to Snapchat, she held sales roles at Hearst and Condé Nast.
Kennedy, commenting on her new gig, said, “As the worlds of Hollywood and the Creator Economy continue to converge, Spotter’s ad solutions are built on a simple yet powerful premise: Creators are today’s new TV networks. I’m incredibly excited by the opportunity to connect the world’s largest brands with the immense power and reach of top creators. This is where the future of authentic advertising lies, and Spotter is leading the way.”
Founded in 2019, L.A.-based Spotter provides creators upfront financing in exchange for licensing their older YouTube videos along with software and data analytics to grow their fanbases and branded-content partnerships.
In the fall of 2024, Amazon acquired a minority stake in Spotter and the two companies formed a partnership to “expand access” to new business opportunities for Spotter’s roster of creators. Other investors in Spotter include Mark Bezos (brother of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos) and Softbank.
