Amazon Prime Video‘s series adaptation of Carley Fortune’s novel “Every Summer After” has found its cast, Variety has learned.
Originally announced in July 2024 under the title “Every Year After,” the series will star Sadie Soverall (“Saltburn,” “Fate: The Winx Saga”) and Matt Cornett (“High School Musical: The Musical: The Series,” “Summer of 69”) in the lead roles of Percy and Sam.
Additional cast members include Aurora Perrineau (“KAOS,” “Westworld”) as Chantal, Abigail Cowen (“Fate: The Winx Saga,” “The Ritual”) as Delilah, Michael Bradway (“Chicago Fire,” “Marked Men”) as Charlie, and Joseph Chiu (“Fear Street: Prom Queen,” “Motorheads”) as Jordie.
“I couldn’t be more excited about this fabulous cast! This is an enormously talented group of actors, whose auditions made me laugh, swoon, and cry,” Fortune said. “I know they’ll have fans of ‘Every Summer After’ falling in love with their favorite characters all over again.”
The official logline for “Every Year After” states, “Told over the course of six years and one week in Barry’s Bay – the quintessential lake town – ‘Every Year After’ is a romantic, nostalgic story of first loves and the people and choices that mark us forever.”
Amy B. Harris is now set to serve as the series’ showrunner and executive producer. Leila Gerstein had originally been announced for that role but is no longer attached to the series. Fortune is also an executive producer along with Lindsey Liberatore, Amy Rardin, John Stephens, and Grace Gilroy.
“Every Summer After” was originally published in 2022. The so-called BookTok online community championed the novel, with the “Every Summer After” hashtag reaching over 81 million views on TikTok. The book spent 14 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list and has sold over 1 million copies to date. Fortune’s other novels are “This Summer Will Be Different” and “Meet Me at the Lake.”
