Boulder’s Bluebird Music Festival, one that Nashville superstar Langhorne Slim calls “one of my favorite weekends of the year,” returns this spring with its “biggest” lineup yet to the University of Colorado Boulder’s Macky Auditorium.

The “very special headliner” for the eighth iteration hasn’t been named yet, festival organizers said in a release, but Shakey Graves, Mon Rovia, Ocie Elliott, Chaparelle, Erin Rae, Kid Reverie (Steve Varney of Gregory Alan Isakov’s band) and LVDY are on the initial lineup.
“Though we can’t let that headliner cat out of the bag quite yet, we promise that you’re going to be very happy,” the release states. “The festival will sell out.”
The festival runs noon-3 p.m. and 6-9:45 p.m. April 18-19.
Early bird tickets are on sale now and run from $58.50 for a Saturday afternoon Strings & Stories set, to $68.50 for a Saturday evening performance, to $2,895 for a private opera box for eight. They can be purchased at bluebirdmusicfestival.org.
Bluebird’s Strings & Stories — the festival’s signature intimate storytelling and song sharing by the musicians — will run both Saturday and Sunday afternoons, according to the release.
Bluebird Music Festival founder Travis Albright also runs the Boulder nonprofit Future Arts Foundation, a local crew that’s helped provide instruments, supplies and support to public school teachers across Colorado since 2014. Albright is in the process of launching his Boulder-based Bluebird School, which will offer free music instruction to the children of teachers, first responders and mental health professionals, the Daily Camera reported in April. The Bluebird School is slated to kick off its program on Oct. 22 at Broadway Music Studios in Boulder. Read more about it at bluebirdmusicfestival.org/bluebirdschool.
