Family theater, music festival and Civil War history

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – From heartwarming theater to free music and Civil War history, this weekend offers something for everyone across Central Kentucky.

Stuart Little takes the stage

The Lexington Children’s Theatre presents the beloved story of Stuart Little, based on the classic book by E.B. White. The production follows a young mouse adopted into a human family as he learns to navigate the “real people’s world.”

The traveling company features tour actor Cameron Taylor, a Lexington native who grew up performing at the Lexington Children’s Theatre.

Performances are scheduled for Saturday at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., with a Sunday matinee at 2 p.m.

Moonlight Festival returns to Somerset

For the seventh year, the Moonlight Festival returns to Fountain Square in downtown Somerset. The free festival features food vendors, art displays and multiple musical performers.

This year’s headliners include Bee Taylor, The Creekers and George Birge. Shows begin at 11 a.m. Saturday.

While admission is free, attendees who want to purchase alcohol must buy a $5 spirit wristband.

Civil War history comes alive

The Kentucky Historical Society’s “Haunting on the Hill” offers a tour of the Battle of Frankfort site. The weekend tours focus on the 1864 Civil War battle that took place in the area.

The three-quarter-mile hike to the top of Fort Hill follows the same trail used by Civil War soldiers more than 160 years ago. At the summit, families can enjoy trick-or-treating, pumpkin painting, and a corn pit.

Saturday’s tour is free, with walk-ups welcome between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.
