An international affair at Kadoma Music Festival -Newsday Zimbabwe

Tonight is the night for the Kadoma Music Festival.

THE big gig is here!

Tonight is the night for the Kadoma Music Festival.

Set for the Odyssey in Kadoma, everyone is geared for the enthralling event.

Kudzaishe Matondo, popularly known as Dee Nosh, the manager and organiser for the festival, says as Odyssey Entertainment, they are ready to show their mettle.

Jamaican dancehall reggae artistes Busy Signal and Chris Martin are set to headline the event.

Local fan favourites, sungura ace Alick Macheso, dancehall chanters Winky D, Freeman, dynamic and multitalented Afro-pop artiste Julian King will also warm up the night, and so will Afro-soul and Afro-fusion musician Feli Nandi

and rising Chimurenga musician Kurai Makore.

Dee Nosh said the audience should expect an exciting event as each of the performing artistes are commanding musicians in their own right.

Diana Nheera, who handles communications and publicity for Julian King, an award winner, it will be in a home-coming show after a six-year stint in the United States, where he has been pursuing both academic and professional interests in music and accounting.

Julian King’s story is one of resilience, faith and artistic excellence.

From his early days as a backing vocalist for Minister Michael Mahendere, where he honed his confidence and stage presence, to topping radio charts across Zimbabwe from Dallas, Texas, he has built an inspirational career that bridges continents.

“Every song you know of mine I have released through social media only,” Julian King said.

“For six years, I had no direct contact with Zimbabwe, yet my music continued to live in the hearts of my people back home.

“This homecoming is deeply personal. It’s a chance to finally meet the fans who have carried me with love and to thank the media and fellow artistes who kept my voice alive.”

Dee Nosh admitted that Zimbabwe has abundant award-winning stars like Winky D, Alick Macheso and Feli Nandi, who are household names as they command sterling acts.

Since the turn of the millennium, Winky D and Macheso have never lost their grip as the best-performing entertainers in Zimbabwe.

Winky D has seen this month being one of his busiest, booked for four festivals in four consecutive weeks, the Kadoma Music Festival included.

“If you’re looking for a night where unforgettable memories are made, where music unites and energy is unmatched, then the Kadoma Music Festival on October 11 at the Odyssey is the best entertainment choice you could ever make.” Dee Nosh said.
