Craft fair, music festival, and 10k race in Gwent this weekend


On Saturday, July 12, the Abergavenny Craft Fair will take place in Abergavenny Market Hall on Cross Street.

The fair, which is held on the second Saturday of each month, will feature a variety of handmade gifts, including jewellery, cards, knitting, wood sculptures, glass work, and artwork.

There will also be general stalls selling fruit and veg, bread, cakes, handbags, watches, takeaway coffee, and breakfast.

The fair will run from 9am until 4pm.

Also on July 12 and 13 is the Folk on the Lawn 2025 festival.

The music festival, which will take place in Abbey Mill Wye Valley Centre in Tintern, will have “days of great music over three stages.”

There will be folk and roots music in a “scenic setting.”

Pontypool Party in the Park will take place on Saturday, July 12.

The event will run from 11am until 5pm in Pontnewydd, Torfaen, and will have stalls and food on offer.

The Mic Morris 10k will take place on Sunday, July 13.

The race will start in Blaenavon at 9am and will finish in Pontypool Park.

(Image: Robin Birt) The event, which is organised by Mic Morris Sporting Trust, is described as being a “firm favourite with beginners and experienced runners alike.”

The course is described as “fast” and takes place on a “downhill, closed road route.”

Participants will receive a goody bag at the finish line which will include a medal, tech tee shirt, water, and a banana.

Transport is provided from Pontypool to the start to help with parking in Blaenavon.

A spokesperson from Torfaen Leisure Trust said: “This event is superbly suitable for all runners (min age 15 years), including those with disabilities.

“An excellent PB for everyone, an opportunity not to be missed.”
