Eastern Music Festival ends after 64 years

The festival will stop all operations.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — The Eastern Music Festival announced Monday that it will stop operations, ending a 64-year legacy of nurturing and educating exceptional young musicians.

Over its history, EMF said it has trained more than 10,000 students, many of whom have gone on to successful careers in the arts and entertainment industry. The festival has also played a significant role in the Greensboro community, bringing music to libraries, schools, seniors, and local venues, as well as hosting programs on the Guilford College campus.

“While the Festival will come to an end, the work continues,” the organization said. “We encourage others to take up the mantle and step boldly into the future with their educational and artistic endeavors.”

The Eastern Music Festival expressed gratitude to the donors, partners, and patrons who supported its mission over the decades, helping advance classical music and student musicianship in the region.
