Former Disney star is returning to music career

Former Disney star Hilary Duff has signed a recording contract and is returning to her music career after a 10-year absence.

People Magazine reports Duff, 37, announced Tuesday she has signed with Atlantic Records. Her previous album, “Breathe In. Breathe Out,” was released in June 2015, Variety reports.

Duff also is planning a docuseries about her return to a music career, according to Variety. Sam Wrench will be the director and executive producer. Wrench directed “A Nonsense Christmas With Sabrina Carpenter” and “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour.”

According to People, the news release says “fans will ride shotgun as she balances raising a family, recording new music, live show rehearsals, and preparing to perform on stage for the first time in over a decade.”

Duff’s fame took off when she starred in the Disney series “Lizzie McGuire” from 2001 to 2004. It also led to a movie in 2004. She also has starred in movies such as “Agent Cody Banks,” “Cheaper by the Dozen” and its sequel, and “A Cinderella Story.”

She began her music career while still working on the TV series, releasing “Metamorphosis” in 2003. The hit album included two of her most popular songs, “Come Clean” and “So Yesterday.” She has released five albums overall.

She has been more focused on an acting career and recently starred in 30 episodes of “How I Met Your Father.”
