The Mirror attended Barefoot Country Music Fest and the four-day event included an Olympian taking the karaoke stage, Boyz II Men bringing out the Super Bowl trophy, and much more
Barefoot Country Music Fest is arguably one of the best ways to kick off the summer.
For most people, summer is marked by the warmer temperatures, clear skies, and potentially a nice cold drink with your feet in the sand. However, for the music lovers, the season begins when every weekend has a lineup of performers taking the stage at a major music festival.
Fortunately, Barefoot Country Music Fest hits the checkmarks on everyone’s list as it brings good vibes, great food, and the best performers to one place that makes the occasion a little more special for people that grew up in the tristate area.

If you’re like me, and you were both and raised in New Jersey, you know there’s nothing like the boardwalk in the summer.
Nothing beats the nostalgia you get from the fried Oreos and the death traps we like to call roller coasters. Well, one thing does. The fried Oreos, death traps, and live music.
The annual music festival brings all that to one sandy area right on Wildwood Beach.
During this year’s four-day event, I basked in the 90-degree air while listening to my favorite country artists. As I looked out towards the water, the sound of the waves were muted by the sound of country artists like Megan Moroney and Lainey Wilson belting out to their top hits like Watermelon Moonshine and 6 Months Later.
While it was nice to listen to an array of honky tonk music, it was nice to get the occasional break during the four day festival.
One of my favorite performances actually came from a 1985 R&B group that brought out another level of nostalgia to the setting. In the midst of Saturday’s lineup, Boyz II Men took the stage with a set that had everyone’s hands in the air waving side to side.
After having the crowd in their feelings by handing out roses during their performance of I’ll Make Love to You, they snapped everyone back to high energy as they brought Philadelphia Eagles’ lineman Landon Dickerson.
With the festival’s close vicinity to Philadelphia, the crowd raved over the NFL star. The group then surprised fans once more as they brought out the team’s two Super Bowl trophies.
Both music and sports fans’ day had been made, leaving nothing able to top that momentous occasion… well aside from an Olympian making a surprise appearance.
While cooling down away from the sun at Club Barefoot, attendees took the stage for a surprising but welcoming change. One by one, people took the stage during karaoke to sing their favorite country songs.
The amateurs riled one another up until one person took the stage and blew the crowd away.
Olympian Priscilla Frederick came to the stage with a high energy performance of Tina Turner & Ike’s iconic song Proud Mary. Her star energy put every person who took any stage that day – Grammy Award-winning singers included – to shame.
Between the surprise appearances, the sand in my feet, and the stellar lineup, it’s safe to say Barefoot Country Music Fest is one of the best music festivals I’ve ever been to.
