More than a decade ago, Luke Combs left behind a criminal justice degree at Appalachian State University in favor of moving to Nashville in pursuit of his musical dreams. Releasing his first EP, The Way She Rides, in 2014, Combs has gone on to become the second best-selling country artist of all time behind Garth Brooks—and he’s only 35.
Last year, the two-time CMA Entertainer of the Year signaled a pivot toward more mature pastures with the heartfelt Fathers & Sons. Since then, he has shared a steady stream of cryptic clues about new music with his social media followers. And his most recent hint has fans in a frenzy.
“I’ve actually already told y’all the name of my next song coming out,” Combs wrote Wednesday (June 18) on X/Twitter.

With just 13 words, the “Fast Car” crooner had his corner of social media abuzz with speculation. Some guessed “My Kinda Saturday Night,” a rollicking weekend anthem that Combs teased on Instagram earlier this month.
However, Combs later returned to the thread to shut that one down: “It’s not ‘My Kinda Saturday Night’ or any song I’ve posted a clip of the music for,” he clarified.

One fan guessed, “Fantasy loser?” This was likely a humorous nod to the time the country star brought the losers of his fantasy football league onstage to sing with him as punishment.
What Else Has Luke Combs Said About New Music?
Some eagle-eyed fans recalled a May 15 Instagram post in which Luke Combs is wearing a Pam Tillis shirt. In the caption, Combs shared that the video contained “an Easter egg regarding new music… that will one day make sense.” With that, some fans believe the country star is teasing a cover from the “Maybe It Was Memphis” singer.
Combs is taking a step back from touring in 2025 to prioritize time with his sons, Tex, 3, and Beau, 1. However, that doesn’t mean the “Hurricane” singer hasn’t been in the studio. Sharing an update to Instagram last month, he told fans he is “actively working” on new music.
“It’s not going to be nothing weird,” he assured People magazine. “We’re not doing no jazz album. We’re just doing a kick-ass country record.”
