Music and fun across five Wolverhampton pubs at special festival

The Junction Festival provided three days of music and art at the free multi-venue celebration of live music and local talent, with more than 50 local music acts playing at the Combermere Arms, the Royal Oak, the Chindit and the Clarendon, as well as a specially curated event at Asylum Art Gallery.

Held between July 4 and 6, performers showcased a wide range of genres and styles from blues and folk to indie, rock and rap, offering something for every musical taste.

There was a huge contrast in the different performers at the festival

In addition to the music, exhibitions showcasing more than 40 local artists were displayed from Asylum Art Gallery and The Tavern Arts Collective.

Other attractions included Morris Dancing and Wolverhampton Sketchers, a group of local artists who sketched performances over the weekend.

The festival is an annual affair which brings hundreds of people to the Chapel Ash area of Wolverhampton

Originally launched in 2011, The Junction Festival returned in 2024 for the first time since the pandemic, with a group of four volunteers working to put together the festival, supported by The Cellar Rooms music studio in Fryer Street which supplied all of the musical equipment free of charge.

Cellar Rooms owner Rob Fellows said: “There’s a great relationship between the venues and The Junction festival team and it’s all about pulling together for a free community festival that supports the local community in and around Chapel Ash.”

The Junction Festival saw more than 50 acts across five pubs in Wolverhampton

“I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who came out, performed, volunteered, or supported The Junction Festival in any way.

“It’s amazing to see the community come together like this.

“We do it for the love of the city and the music, and we’re already thinking about how to make next year even better.”
