Firefest is a country music festival typically held in Cold Spring, Minnesota, around this time of year. With past featured artists like Luke Bryan, Little Big Town, Brothers Osborne, and even Foreigner, the festival is renowned for providing an exceptional atmosphere for live music and supporting the Cold Spring Fire and Rescue Department, as all proceeds benefit equipment, resources, and training for first responders.
Although the event has been taking place since 2009, the festival announced via its Facebook page that, due to “a number of reasons which were largely outside of our control,” the event would not be continuing this year. The team did not provide a further explanation for the cancellation.
This year’s Firefest was initially scheduled for Saturday, July 26th, and was to feature artists like Mitchell TenPenny, Conner Smith, The Frontmen, and Meghan Patrick. The festival typically draws a decent crowd of around 10,000 audience members, which is impressive, considering the town of Cold Spring, Minnesota, has only about 4,000 people.
Will Firefest Return Next Year?
The festival typically serves as a showcase of hometown pride for the locals, drawing visitors from all over the country every year. Not only that, but it provides an excellent opportunity for people to give back to their community while enjoying live music. Within its first seven years of operation, Firefest raised over $250,000 for local first responders and has consistently raised at least $25,000 a year since then.
Speaking on this year’s event, the team said, “We are saddened to need to make such a decision, but believe it is in the best interest of the event,” and asked for patience from its supporters regarding refunds for sponsorships, tickets, and camping reservations.
While no comment has been made on the status of next year’s festival, it is unclear whether Firefest will continue in the years to come.
