The band’s Jordao told Blog Preston how the idea for Rock am River came about.
“We started the festival following a headline show we’d put on at The Continental. We had three local support bands on the bill, and came close to a sell out. We thought ‘if we can pack out the venue with a few local bands, why not try and put on a proper festival?’”
In 2024, the festival was expanded to two days, but it’s back to a one-day event this year.
“With us running into the autumn this time around, we’ve scaled down to one day,” says Jordao. “But in future, we’d love to expand back to two days, as we experimented with last year.”

Jordao says the band has learned a lot since starting Rock am River: “We’re much better versed in the booking and running of the festival now that we’ve got a few years under our belts.”
Looking to next year, the band would like to introduce an acoustic stage in the Conti’s snug, and bring even more established touring acts to the festival.
Asked why people should go to Rock am River, Jordao replies simply: “To support local, independent music and enjoy some seriously talented live acts in one of Preston’s most iconic venues.”
Rock am River will take place at The Continental on Saturday 18 October from 2pm.
Priced at £14 plus booking fee, tickets are available on Skiddle. To find out more about the festival, follow @rockamriver_ on Instagram.
