Honor Flight at Home Marion honors veterans June 7, 2025
Honor Flight at Home, which was founded by a Marion resident in 2018, has honored more than 100 veterans.
- Five free events are happening in Marion this week including the Marion Black Joy Summerfest and a Pride picnic.
- The Stand By Your Veterans Banner event encourages the public to support local veterans.
- Live music performances will occur at Kin & Kilt and Bowstring Bar & Grill.

Here’s five things going on in Marion:
1. Marion Black Joy Summerfest 2025
When: 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, June 28
Where: Martin Luther King Park, 201-261 Cass Ave., Marion
What: Join Marion Voices Folklife + Oral History for the fifth annual Marion Black Joy Summerfest at Martin Luther King Park. The day will be full of musical performances, live narrative stage panels, food trucks, vendors and activities for kids. At 11 a.m. there will be a dedication to the park’s Ohio Historical Marker. At noon, festivities will begin.

When: 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Saturday, June 28
Where: City of Marion
What: Marion is celebrating veterans with its Stand By Your Banner hour. The public is encouraged to cheer and wave to veterans who will be standing underneath their banners all around town.

3. Third annual Pride picnic
When: 5-10 p.m. Saturday, June 28, after 7 p.m. adults only
Where: McKinley Park, 1000 McKinley Park Blvd., Marion
What: Join the Marion Area LGBTQ+ Coalition at the third annual pride picnic. All ages are welcome until 7 p.m. where the event will be welcome to adults only. There will be free hot dogs and snacks, yard games, crafts and more.

4. Full Moon Live
When: 7 p.m. Saturday, June 28
Where: Kin & Kilt, 130 S. Prospect St., Marion
What: Join Kin & Kilt for a live performance by Full Moon. The band performs music from the ’60s, ’70s, and beyond.

5. Garrett George Full Band Live
When: 8 p.m. Saturday, June 28
Where: Bowstring Bar & Grill, 109 N. Water St., Caledonia
What: Visit Bowstring Bar & Grill for a performance by Garrett George and the band.
Cost: Free
