A summer tradition for many young area musicians continued on Friday, July 11 when the Vankleek Hill Music Festival Music and Arts Summer Camp held its closing concert.
A Stage Full of Stars; the music of Coldplay was the closing concert for 2025 with a script written by Alice Rodger.
In 2025, the Music and Arts Summer Camp celebrated its 25th anniversary. It was also the 35th anniversary of the annual music festival, held earlier this spring. During the two-week, Monday to Friday day camp held at Vankleek Hill Collegiate Institute (VCI), 44 campers learned choir, harp, xylophone, ukelele, drum, and drama, all with the goal of staging the final concert for family and friends on the final day.
Six instructors with specialties in each instrument or art form led the students through the camp, with the help of three student counsellors.
The lyrics, melodies, and acted scenes emphasized positivity and empathy. Campers and the audience alike were clearly enjoying themselves.
